Rear Mount Turbo Stand Alone Oil System

Sts turbo overcomes the challenges of traditional installations by mounting the turbos in the rear of the vehicle in place of the stock mufflers on some vehicles.

Having a turbo rear mounted means that as the charge air from the turbocharger travels back to the engine it is simultaneously cooled by the ambient air running underneath the car saving the need. Typically wherein the oil return line is all the way from a rear mounted remote turbo to the front of the car. This is installed on the pump discharge port and prevents oil from backflowing into the pump section. Because of their somewhat laggy nature a rear mounted turbo system would ideally be applied to an engine no smaller than 4 0l.

Turbo oil feed check valve. A few other things complicate a remote mount turbo installation. A 1 8 npt or 1 4 1 psi viton seal check valve 03 1039 is available for the turbo oil feed port. Torque deficient four cylinder engines will prove difficult and frustrating to drive if turbo lag is too great and may require additional modifications to the gearing and drive train to compensate.

Oil feed and return while you certainly can have a stand alone oil system for a rear mount turbo it seemed like added complication for little benefit to me so on the ones i ve had dealings with we ve always just fed the engine oil the traditional way an oil feed pipe direct from the engine.
